    Pak action thriller pushes envelope

DUBAI: Basking in the glory of an unprecedented box office collection in the country, the latest Pakistani film Waar was finally released in the UAE on Thursday.

Lead actors of the film Ali Azmat, Shamoon Abbasi, Hamza Abbasi, and their director Bilal Lashari came to Dubai on Thursday to meet their fans.

Dubbed as the most successful movie in the history of Pakistan, Waar has managed to strike a chord with the Pakistani audience. Directed by debutant filmmaker Bilal Lashari, the film was released in Pakistan on Oct.16 and went on to make $2 million at the box office.

Sharing his experience, Bilal said, “It was very difficult to make a film of this stature, but I really got encouraged to see the response of the trailer.”

Talking about the big budget involved in the making of the film, he said, “It is really an expensive movie indeed.”

Written and produced by Dr Hassan Waqas Rana, the film’s cast also includes superstar Shaan Shahid, besides Aisha Khan, Misha Shafi, Kamran Lashari and Nadeem Abbas Rana.

Sharing his experience of being part of such an expensive movie, Rana remarked, “Making an action film is rare in Pakistan. It was a daunting task to make such a big-budget movie, but we are happy to see the response of the film.”

Talking about his portrayal in a negative character, Shamoon said, “I just followed what my director had in his mind, though it is a very different kind of character.”

The press conference was organized by Dream Advertising and Ministry of Events.
